Torquay United player-manager, Kevin Nicholson, was a happy man after seeing his side make it two wins in a row with a deserved 2-0 success over Chester.
“We started the game really well, something that we haven’t done often enough,” he admitted. “Credit to Chester because they stood up to it, but there was a lot of heart and character displayed by my players out there.
“The lads gave me everything and we could have won by a bigger margin in the end.
“That said, there wasn’t much for me to moan about; I’ve told the players to go away and enjoy the winning feeling before getting ready to do another job at the weekend.
“We restricted Chester to mainly half-chances, which is credit to the lads at the back who really put their bodies on the line.
“There were good performances throughout the whole team and it would be unfair to pick out individuals as it was a real team effort with everyone doing their job.
“We deserved to get the win but there is still a big job ahead for us to complete. We received great support once again; our fans are amazing and have really stuck with us.
“Together we must make sure that we finish the job off.
“There was a great turn-out tonight and there’ll be another big atmosphere on Saturday when we take on Tranmere Rovers.
“These are the type of occasions that you want to be involved in.”
