Gary Waddock believes that anyone panicking at Aldershot Town’s position in the National League table needs a “reality check,” report Surrey Live.
The Shots drew their opening league game with Barnet but subsequent defeats to Chesterfield and Solihull Moors left the north Hampshire team rock bottom of the early-season table.
But, pointing to Aldershot’s new-look squad and modest budget, Waddock insists there is “no big drama”.
However, the Shots boss admits that to take one point and fail to score in the opening three league games was “disappointing”.
“It’s a new squad. We have had to assemble a new group and you could say it’s a transitional period,” Waddock explained. “We are all disappointed with the start but we are all also realistic in who we have played – Barnet and Chesterfield, who have budgets that are a lot, lot bigger than ours. But there’s no big drama.
“I don’t see why anyone would panic. If they broke it down and looked at it, we have lost the spine of our team and we have brought in some good players but they need time to settle in. We are three games into a season and people are panicking? Wow. A big wow.”
