Dean Keates has dismissed suggestions JJ Hooper has ‘refused to play’ for Wrexham and is looking forward to having the striker back in action for the Dragons; potentially starting with this weekend’s trip to FC Halifax Town.

Wrexham travel to the Shay Stadium on Saturday for an FA Trophy first round tie having dropped back into the bottom four relegation places of the National League following Sutton United’s 0-0 draw on Tuesday night at AFC Fylde.

Keates revealed he was likely to make changes to the starting XI that had claimed successive victories in the league to move, not only off the foot of the standings, but before Tuesday’s outstanding fixture for Sutton, out of the bottom four.

Keates has been vocal surrounding the situation with Hooper, having previously said: “JJ is not too far away, he has got to get to a point now where he can feel he can deal with the pain.”
