Les Hare, the former chairman of the club who departed in 2015, is leading a group in a bid to resurrect football in the East Riding village after the football club was wound up over an unpaid bill a fortnight ago.

The club, which was owned by builder Carl Chadwick, was liquidated at a Hull County Court hearing before all records held with the Northern League were “expunged” earlier this week. Now a “formal submission” to the FA and the Northern Counties East League is all that stands between a club returning to the village.

An application has already been lodged with the FA in a bid to see the new side enter the non-league pyramid at step five, the Northern Counties East League Premier Division, from next season.
