Nottinghamshire Live say a Danish consortium has now become the only prospective saviour for crisis-hit Notts County after a South African group officially withdrew from takeover talks.

Nottinghamshire Live understands the Scandinavians have significantly ramped up their pursuit of the club in the last fortnight following negotiations with chairman Alan Hardy.

A meeting with the prospective new owners, involving National League chief executive Mike Tattersall, is believed to have been scheduled for Thursday, a day after Notts are back in the High Court over an unpaid tax bill.

It is understood to be the same group that Nottinghamshire Live revealed as the latest bidder last month with two of the group believed to be from Football Radar, a company which provides statistics to betting firms.
