Notts County defender Alex Lacey has said the Magpies players don’t want their season to be deemed null and void.

Speaking in his latest column for Nottinghamshire Live, Lacey said:

“We’ve all been waiting for an update on what is going to happen to the National League season, but we are yet to receive any firm clarification on what our fate is going to be.

“A few newspaper reports this week said the season was over yet just a few hours later on the same day, clubs were saying that wasn’t the case at all.

“Apparently there is a willingness to play the remaining games as and when it is safe to do so, but all in all, it’s been a little bit confusing for the players and the supporters.

“We’ve been talking about the situation in the players’ group chat on WhatsApp, but really we are nothing more than spectators while the governing bodies decide the best way forward.

“Having put ourselves in a fantastic position, which could lead to two potential trips to Wembley, none of us want the season to be made null and void.”
