Notts County assistant Greg Abbott has described the different kind of pressure the Magpies are contending with as a side tipped for promotion.
Neal Ardley’s side are currently 6th in the National League, and Abbott was speaking to the club’s website in relation to the 2013/14 campaign, in which he and Shaun Derry led Notts to an improbable survival in League One.
Abbott said: “This time around, the pressure’s different. We’re the team that’s expected to win, and when we fall below par, you don’t get the sympathy vote, and it’s a real downer. In that respect, the pressure’s heaped on you more.
“When we survived relegation, it was a great achievement, and winning promotion would be a great achievement in a different manner, because everyone looks at Notts County as one of the top teams in the league.”
