Nuneaton Borough manager and acting chairman Jimmy Ginnelly has announced details of a sponsored walk to help raise vital funds for the club.
The National League North side released details of their financial plight yesterday, in which it was revealed they have a £31,000 bill from HMRC and club debt has more than doubled since November.
Ginnelly, who left Barwell to manage his hometown club earlier this season, has said the following:
“Calling all Nuneaton Borough Football Club fans, all of the junior football sections and all the local Sunday League sides, I’m asking you all for your assistance to help save the club.
“We’re going to do a 5K Boro’ Sponsored Walk around the pitch at the next two home games, Alfreton Town on the 9th of March and Darlington on the 23rd. We will be doing the walks on the Saturday and Sunday of both weekends, as I understand not everybody can make one specific day.
“The walks will all start at 9:00 am. If we could get 200 walkers with each sponsored to raise £50 myself and the club would be over the moon.
“There’ll be a penalty shootout on the pitch whilst the walk is in progress, participants can register to try their luck from 12 yards out and a winner will be awarded with a prize on each day.
“Additionally, whoever manages to raise the most in sponsorship over the four days will receive two season tickets for the whole of next season, with participating junior players who raise at least £50, earning free entry to all home games for the remainder of this season and the entirety of 2019/2020.
“If you can’t do the walk, you could simply help out by sponsoring someone that is. Please contact the club if you want to know more or simply download the sponsorship form from this page.
“Alternatively, you can make donations to the club through our PayPal account using the email address email@example.com.
Thank you all in advance. #UpTheBoro.”
