Tommy Wright was realistic when giving his verdict on Nuneaton Town`s 4-3 reverse at York City on Saturday.

Wright said: “We came up against a very good side and gave ourselves a mountain to climb by conceding within the opening minute.

“I was happy with our response but goals change games and just as we were getting into the game, they scored a second.

“Having found ourselves three goals down, I was pleased that we kept going and refused to let our heads drop and in the end, we could have taken something from it.

“I was particularly pleased that Jordan Nicholson got his name on the scoresheet. He lost his granddad on Friday night but the young lad showed fantastic character to play and he has done himself and his family proud out there.

“That’s the reason he was given the captain’s armband and I have nothing but admiration for him.

“The attention now turns to next Saturday’s game against Leamington. It’s a massive game and a local derby, so hopefully we’ll have a decent crowd and can put in a winning performance.

“With no midweek fixtures, it gives us the extra time needed to work on the training ground after what has been a busy start to the season”.
