Nuneaton Town have completed the signing of talented goalkeeper Tyrell Belford on a deal until the summer of 2018.
The 22 year-old, who was born in Nuneaton, started his career as a junior at Coventry City before moving into Liverpool’s Academy where he continued to flourish and earned England recognition at Under-16 and 17 level.
He joined Swindon Town on a two-year deal in the summer of 2013 and played 22 times for The Robins as he got his first taste of senior action before linking up with Southport on a season-long loan at the start of the current campaign.
However, a change of management at The Sandgrounders saw him return to the County Ground before being released and joining Oxford City in The National League South where he has put in some impressive displays over the past couple of months.
“I am delighted to be able to bring in Ty,” said Boro boss, Tommy Wright. “He is a goalkeeper that I have been chasing for a while, and when a move elsewhere broke down recently, I had to get in there quickly to get the deal done.
“We have secured his services until the end of next season, which is great news for us.
“He is a very confident and talented goalkeeper who is relishing the prospect of playing for his hometown club.”
