The latest test in Nuneaton Town’s pre-season programme of matches comes this evening as we face Peterborough United here at Liberty Way (kick-off 7.30pm).

“These are the type of games that we really look forward to,” said Tom Elliott, who made a goalscoring appearance against Barwell at the weekend. “It gives us the chance to test ourselves against higher level opposition.

“I’d like to think that we’ll be able to compete and we’ll go out there, give a good account of ourselves and put on a performance.

“It was good to be back in action on Saturday. I thought that we did okay as a team; there were a few cobwebs, but we attacked well and created chances

“From a personal point of view, I felt good and got into the swing of things pretty much straight away.”

There have been a number of new faces arrive at the club over the summer and Elliott has been impressed with how quickly they have settled in.

“This is a good camp to be in,” he said without hesitation. “The new lads have all settled in really quickly and hit the ground running.

“Pre-season training has been enjoyable so far; the first couple of days were tough, but that is always the case, and now we’re making good progress.

“It’s all about being ready to make our mark when the season gets underway.”
