Nuneaton Town have sent Luke Shorthouse, Jordan Wheatley and Elliott Hodgett-Young out on loan to get some much-needed game time.

Shorthouse and Wheatley have joined Evo-Stik Northern Premier League Premier Division neighbours Barwell, while Hodgett-Young will spend time at NPL First Division South outfit nuneatonBasford United.

Shorthouse scored 44 goals in fifty-one games at Midland League side Nuneaton Griff last season before signing for neighbours Boro in the summer.

He scored with his first touch after coming onto the pitch against Coventry City in Nuneaton`s pre-season opener.

Wheatley is a highly-rated defender who linked back up with his former Ilkeston FC boss Kevin Wilson at Nuneaton ahead of the 2016/17 season after declining offers from the Football League.

Hodgett-Young started his career on the books of Notts County before joining Ilkeston.

He joined Boro following a successful trial during pre-season.

Wilson said: “It’s important that they start playing regularly to give them a better chance of consistently making our match day squad.

“They are good footballers who train hard and are keen to do well. But, there is no substitute for playing competitive games and moving out on loan will be good for them and us.

“Hopefully they will come back and be banging on my door ready to play”.
