Bradford Park Avenue’s deadly marksman Oli Johnson was delighted after his goal at Kidderminster Harriers clinched a place in the Vanarama National League play-off semi final against Brackley Town.
Johnson was suspended for four games during the end of season run-in, but he has returned at the perfect time and continued to impress in front of goal for Avenue. Speaking after their 2-0 win, he said: “I’m absolutely ecstatic. We always believed we could do the job, especially after winning here on Saturday. It filled us with a lot of confidence.
“I’m really happy for the fans and everyone associated for the club and we move on to Sunday now.”
He felt that his 78th minute goal was just reward for Avenue’s late attacking pressure, saying: “I felt like gaps were starting to appear in their defence.
“Not long before, Frank (Mulhern) hit the post and Adam (Boyes) did too. I felt we were pushing and getting stronger as the game went on.
“I was confident we could create chances and we just needed to take that second opportunity, and thankfully we did.”
