Gateshead have announced that Shaun MacDonald has joined Evo-Stik Northern Premier League First Division North side Spennymoor Town on loan, while Brendan Pearson has extended his stay at the International Stadium.

Both deals will last until the end of the current campaign, with MacDonald remaining eligible to play for the Heed’s reserve and under-19 sides.

MacDonald has made three appearances for the Tynesiders at first-team level, the last of which came against Woking at the International Stadium in December.

He joins a Spennymoor side currently third in the table, the Moors beaten play-off semi-finalists last term.

Pearson, meanwhile, will see out the season with Gateshead after joining on an initial one-month deal from Barclays Premier League neighbours Newcastle United.

He has made three appearances for the Heed’s reserve side in recent weeks, and will travel with the first-team to tonight’s clash at Cheltenham Town.
