It’s going to take a full team effort to win this relegation battle, declared Workington Reds assistant boss Steven Rudd (to the News & Star).

Workington are now four points off safety in the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League and face a big four days coming up, with two key home games awaiting them.

And Rudd admitted that no individual player will get them out of the mire – it has to be a team effort. But he believes his squad have the spirit to do the job.

“Everybody played really well last weekend, from one to 16, even in the warm-up everyone was positive,” said Rudd.

“And that is what it is going to take for the rest of the season. We need 18/19 players in our squad to contribute and chip in during the matches.

“Everyone has to put in the effort and that is why we got the result and the clean sheet at Whitby last Saturday.”
