Torquay United are expected to make an announcement later this week after their inquiry into the Josh Gowling ‘Tweet Affair’, report Devon Live.
On Monday, while head coach Gary Owers, assistant Martin Kuhl and the players reported for the start of pre-season training at Seale Hayne, Gowling met general manager Geoff Harrop at Plainmoor as part of the ‘internal investigation’ which the club announced last month. The Coventry-born defender, who has another year left on his current contract but was transfer-listed at the end of last season, posted a tweet recently claiming that he had been threatened with a club fine if he attended the funeral of a close friend’s father, presumably without permission.
United responded, insisting that 34-year-old Gowling’s claim was ‘inaccurate and misleading’, announcing their investigation and also reporting that they had asked Gowling to delete the tweet from his account, which he did.
