Head coach Gary Owers described Torquay United’s 4-3 defeat at home to ten-man Guiseley as ‘the lowest point in my career’.
“I am shocked. That’s not a representation of me and not of Torquay United fans or the club in any shape or form,” said the Gulls’ boss.
“We lost all our organisation and shape, and they didn’t do the things they were supposed to do and asked to do.
“Sorry is not a big enough word – there isn’t a word to apologise for that. It was dreadful.
“I think that’s the lowest point of my career, and it’s not about me though. We were lazy. We didn’t work hard enough against ten men. We couldn’t pass the ball five yards or ten yards.
“I am not making any excuses. I am there to be shot at, and I am being shot at. It’s my fault. I have to take the blame, I know that.”
