Head coach Gary Owers said he was ‘bitterly disappointed’ to suffer a three-goal defeat at Tranmere Rovers which dented Torquay United’s hopes of getting out of the National League relegation zone.
“I thought we went out there without any real belief in the first 45 minutes, and we got what we deserved on the day,” said Owers.
“We were slightly better in the second half, and they probably scored again when we were having our best spell.
“But I suppose I am concerned now that we seemed to have a weakness defending crosses and opposition teams are scoring goals in our six-yard box.
“Tranmere do have that physical edge, and maybe we didn’t deal with that today.”
