Bradford Park Avenue manager Mark Bower says victory over Altrincham was massive, as his side opened up a six point gap between them and the bottom three.

Goals from Oli Johnson and Matt Hill won the game for Bradford, though Elliot Newby had equalised for the visitors before being shown a straight red card.

It was a second win in a row for Bower’s men, and took them six points in front of third-bottom Gainsborough.

“It was massive for us to get the three points,” the Avenue manager said.

“Going into the game against a side below us in the table, you look at some of the other fixtures we’ve got coming up and it was a big big game for us.

“It wasn’t as easy as we should have made it, we had chances to make it more comfortable, but ultimately at this stage of the season it’s all about the three points.”
