Jon Parkin, recently released by Vanarama National League runners-up Forest Green Rovers, has signed for League Two side Newport County AFC on a one-year deal.

The thirty-four-year-old striker joins the Exiles ahead of the start of the upcoming season and will add to manager Warren Feeney’s attacking options,

The former York City, Preston and Stoke striker joins the Exiles after spending the past two seasons with Forest Green where he continued his impressive goal return by scoring 38 goals in over eighty appearances and also acted as assistant-manager to former boss Ady Pennock.
