Phil Parkinson was beaming with pride after seeing Curzon Ashton hit for six by Altrincham’s most spectacular performance for years at the Tameside Stadium on Saturday, The Messenger report.
The Alty boss boldly declared his players were on the right track, despite losing 2-0 at home to Spennymoor the previous Tuesday night, and no one was questioning him after Joe Piggott bagged a hat-trick and John Johnston, Yusifu Ceesay and Sean Williams added further goals in a 6-0 rout.
It was their biggest win since Hinckley United were beaten by the same margin in April 2013, and Parkinson said: “I certainly saw this coming because we have promoted a particular brand of football since taking over, and I firmly believe in what we are doing.
“Even so, it is good to see the fruits of your labour.
“It’s great when the things you believe in pay off like that, and it is a fantastic day for Altrincham Football Club to score that many.”
