Jermaine Pennant looked to be leaving Billericay Town after just four months at the club, but after a u-turn, it is announced he will be staying put..
Pennant joined the Isthmian Premier League club in August and manager Glenn Tamplin had said to the Basildon Standard it was an amicable end to Pennant’s spell:
“Pennant has left the club,” confirmed the Billericay boss. “We can’t afford to pay players as much as Jermaine was earning that aren’t in the starting XI.
“Jermaine plays the same position as Sam Deering and that is a problem. Jermaine is a big name and I think he needed to stand out like Sam Deering does, and he didn’t.
“But he departs on very good terms and we wish him all the best.”
Tamplin, however, has this afternoon announced that a re-negotiation has been completed.
