Southend United have confirmed that Phil Brown has agreed a contract to remain in charge next season.
The former Hull City and Derby County boss returned to Southend for a second managerial stint early last month, with the team five points from safety in League Two with six games remaining.
He had previously been at the helm from March 2013 to January 2018.
The Shrimpers won promotion to League One via the play-offs in 2015.
Brown, 61, told the club’s website: “Everything has been agreed in principle and I’m a man of my honour, and I’m sure the chairman is, too. As far as we’re concerned, we’ll go forward together.”
He went on to add: “I’ve signed a two-year deal, which is geared towards promotion, and then it becomes a third year automatically, which I shook hands on and I’m going to back myself to do.”
