Alex Pike is continuing to reshape his Gosport Borough management team ahead of the new season by appointing former Fareham Town boss Steve Stone as his new first team coach.
Stone, who has an impressive coaching CV, replaces Tony Stares who has moved “upstairs” to become Mark Hook’s successor as Chairman.
Steve has coached the Royal Navy and Army Representative Teams and holds both a UEFA A License and a UEFA Goalkeeping A License. He is also an FA tutor delivering all FA/UEFA courses up to UEFA B License.
Stone left Fareham Town earlier this year and has agreed to start work with The Boro’ once pre-season commences later this month.
Meanwhile, newly installed Assistant Manager, Danny Thompson, has this evening confirmed that goalkeeper Nick Jordan has committed himself to Gosport’s Southern Premier League campaign.
Portsmouth-based Jordan produced a string of solid and impressive displays between the sticks in the ill-fated National South campaign last term and is re-signing.
So too are fellow goalkeepers Ellis Grant and Lewis Watch and they are joined by Declan McCarthy, Alfie Lis and Connor May while Richie Whittingham re-signs after joining from Basingstoke Town midway through last season.
Liam Kimber, formerly of Fareham Town and Havant & Waterlooville has also signed along with former Boro’ player Robbie Pittman, who rejoins after several years away but was once part of their Southern League South & West side.
Thompson revealed that two other players who featured last season could possibly be re-joining the club for the coming season and would be announced as and when the deals were done.
