Boston United boss Craig Elliott thought Fraser Preston was destined for the Eredivisie or Football League – but he is ‘excited’ to have signed the former Sheffield Wednesday winger, say the Boston Standard.
The 21-year-old has spent the past two seasons with the Owls’ first-team squad before becoming a free agent this summer.
At one stage he looked set for a move to the Netherlands’ top flight, but Pilgrims boss Elliott is delighted to have landed the young talent on a permanent contract.
“He’s a good player. Me and Rich (Boryszczuk, chief scout) watched him last year in the reserves, always kept an eye on him,” Elliott said.
