Craig Elliott lambasted a ‘spineless’ first half performance from his Boston United players following their latest home defeat on Saturday, Lincolnshire Live report.

The Pilgrims suffered a seventh home reversal in a dozen encounters so far this season after losing 2-1 to Altrincham.

United were already beaten by the time they reduced the arrears through Ben Davies’ penalty with 10 minutes to play and could have been further adrift had it not been for an inspired goalkeeping display from George Willis.

“The first half was very poor,” admitted Elliott. “I cannot deny that and in fact it was terrible. We were spineless with a lack of effort and a lack of aggression.

“I feel the players were well off and I am hurting because I did not see that coming.

“I think we have been half decent over the last three or four weeks but to perform like that in the first half, I am gutted for everybody, including the fans. That should not happen at home.”
