Boston United’s Paul Green is savouring the rare opportunity for extended family time.
The 22-cap Republic of Ireland international joined the Pilgrims this summer, marking a return to non-league football some 17 years after he last played outside the top four divisions.
Although initially keen to stay with Crewe Alexandra, Green later moved to Craig Elliott’s side, and he explains one of the off-field perks it has included:
“I love spending time with my family now. Playing over at Crewe, I was constantly in the car or staying over, things like that.
“It’s nice just to spend time with your family when you’ve got a six-year-old boy and an 11-year-old girl. They take up a bit of your time, wanting your attention or taking them to their football games or gymnastics.”
