Plans have been unveiled for ‘a new home of Guernsey football created at Victoria Avenue,’ which would see Guernsey FC have the newly-created facility as their home ground.
The project has been announced as a joint-venture between the Guernsey Football Association (GFA) and Guernsey FC, with the facility to be used also for GFA representative matches. There will be a 3G training facility made available for community use and the project is to be partly funded by the English FA in the form of grants.
Subject to planning approval, the intention is for construction work to begin next year, with the 2021/22 season outlined as when it will be ready for use. Guernsey FC chairman Mark Le Tissier said:
“We are delighted to be working alongside the Guernsey FA to present a bright future for football on the island. It is our vision that this new facility will be much more than a stand where our fans watch football; we hope to create a community hub.”
Guernsey are currently 20th in the 24-team Bostik League South Division, 27 points clear of Shoreham in the relegation place.
