Tamworth assistant Manager Mike Fowler caught up with Matt Panter of the Tamworth Herald after Saturday’s victory, and insisted play-off qualification was not out of reach.

“We are not going to give up. We will do everything. We will strain every single muscle we have to try and get there” he said. “The lads are really keen. The enthusiasm in the group is good. They are grafting and grafting to keep the standards high to keep us on the coat tails of those above us.”

Fowler admitted it was a case of ‘job done’ as the Lambs overcame a battling Gainsborough side.

“I think we stuck to the game plan really well,” he said. We moved the ball around well at times. We knew they were going to be hardworking because they are in a relegation scrap. So they came and pressed to try and win the ball back off us.”

“We got Newts (Danny Newton) and Stychey (Reece Styche) in behind them and stretched the pitch. Jed Davies was coming inside and getting a lot of the ball, in between the midfield and defensive line.”

“We knew we couldn’t take more than two or three touches because they were right in our faces. Credit to them, they tried to make it hard for us to play.”

“But we have a great record here and I am really pleased for the whole team for digging in for that win. The lads deserved a clean sheet and we have shown some great signs of stepping in the right direction of late.”
