Bostik League South Central strugglers Egham Town have added a new trio to their squad ahead of the busy festive season.

Ashley Smith quit as manager after another heavy loss last weekend at Bedfont Sports and one of his final acts was to say to those players who had been signed on loan that they could go back to their home clubs.

That left Egham scrabbling around for a team to take to South Park on Tuesday night, but perhaps fortuitously, the game was postponed due to the weather.

One attendee at the Bedfont Sports game was two-time former manager Dickson Gill, the original plan being for him to offer guidance to Smith.

That plan had to be hastily changed with the South Park match looming. He had to get a squad together.

The only players left at the club were right-back Tochukwu Okolo, left-back Alessandro Sancese, centre-backs Owen Roberts and Curtis Ujah, midfielders Danny Julienne and Jeevan Panesar, winger Sean McCormack strikers Brandon McCarthy and Kezie Ibe and, in Declan Nche and Ibrahim Kehinde, two more midfielders who had only made their debuts in Smith’s last game.

The new men were Jack Wingate in goal (formerly at Banstead Athletic), left-back Joe Russell and Gilberto Abril from Staines Town, centre-back Tristan Tony and winger Levi Shango from Croydon, keeper Morgan Campbell from Tooting & Mitcham United and Marlon Wallen from AFC Croydon.

Wingate started his career with AFC Wimbledon before signing for Cherry Red Records Combined Counties Leaguers Banstead in November.

Russell is a former Hoddesdon Town, Northwood and Lewes defender who joins from Evo-Stik Southern League Premier Division South side Staines, having recently been with Bostik North outfit Aveley.

Abril also arrives from Staines, although he has been on loan with the Sarnies` league rivals Bedfont Sports.

Originally with Aldershot Town, he has also had spells with Potters Bar Town, Fleet Town and Hampton & Richmond Borough.

Toney joins from Gill`s former club, Southern Counties East Leaguers Croydon and is a former Harrow Borough and Lewisham Borough defender or midfielder.

Shango also joins from the Trams and was previously with Merstham and AFC Wimbledon.

Campbell arrives from league rivals Tooting and was previously with Three Bridges, while winger Wallen joins from Southern Counties East League AFC Croydon and was formerly at Walton & Hersham and Croydon.
