Matthew Bates has admitted that it’s up to the staff and players to come rediscover the winning formula after Hartlepool United suffered defeat to Barnet on Sunday.
Having taken the lead through Peter Kioso inside ten minutes Pools looked on course for a win but two goals in a minute had The Bees in front by the break and they added a third at the death.
The 3-1 reverse at The Super 6 Stadium was Pools’ fourth National League loss in a row and Bates says it’s time for the whole squad to come together to get back on track.
“We started well but then once they scored we didn’t recover and capitulated straight after it,” Bates told Pools PlayerHD.
“To concede two sloppy goals in the space of a minute just kills the confidence – having dominated for the first fifteen we looked a different side at 2-1 down.
“We can’t keep conceding goals like that because it’s something that’s crept in to our season and we’re throwing games away.
“We tried to change it up in the second half to get all the strikers on the pitch and we did have chances but overall we’re just really disappointed.
“This is the same group of players that went on that unbeaten run so we need to find that winning formula again – and there is only me, the coaches and that players that can change it.”
