Crewe Alexandra have signed midfielder Brad Walker on a two-year contract from Hartlepool after agreeing an undisclosed compensation package.
The 21-year-old was out of contract at Pools, but was offered new terms following their relegation to the National League last term.
As he was under 24, the Alex have had to pay compensation for Walker, who made 123 appearances for Pools.
He has become Crewe boss David Artell’s fifth summer signing.
Defender Eddie Nolan, midfielder Michael Raynes and forwards Jordan Bowery and Chris Porter have all moved to South Cheshire this summer.
