Macclesfield Town boss John Askey couldn’t hide his disappointment after his Macclesfield Town side suffered a narrow home defeat against Torquay United last night.
A goal either side of half-time from Nathan Blissett was enough to give Torquay the win and Askey was left frustrated by the manner with the goals that the Silkmen conceded.
Speaking after the game, John said: “We can’t legislate for goals like that. It was poor defending for them both. We can work and work on things but if you give away goals like that then there is nothing you can do.
“The first goal changes the game. I thought we were in control up until that point and even after we went a goal down we kept playing and got a goal back. In the second-half you are thinking that we are going to come out and have a right go but then we concede from a corner.
“It’s just not good enough. We obviously work on set pieces but if people aren’t prepared to get hurt and be brave then it obviously down to personnel. It is something we have to address.
“We had one or two good got chances to get level. We had load of pressure but it is difficult when you are chasing the game.
“The players have got to roll their sleeves and fight. At the minute I am finding out more about the players than I have all season.”
