Port Vale owner Norman Smurthwaite is trying to buy Nuneaton Town FC’s ground, report The Coventry Telegraph.
Members of the Nuneaton Borough Supporters Co-operative (NBSC) say that the Coventry-born businessman has confirmed that he is seeking to acquire, pending English Football League approval, the stadium at Liberty Way.
This would bring to an end the saga surrounding the sale of the ground, which has been on the market since the end of the season.
However, the football club would remain up for sale and NBSC board members say that they would make a move to take over its running as a community asset.
