Walton Casuals’ 16-year-old midfielder Reece Robins had signed for Port Vale.
Robins will move up to to his new club at the end of the season and will still train and be available for selection for the Stags for the rest of the season. Walton Casuals caught up with his dad Mark, who explained the process and how grateful they are to the club and Anthony Gale for Reece’s development:
“The initial enquiry came via the club (Casuals) through a top scout who does due diligence for certain pro clubs. Ant got a call about the youngsters he had and when they heard about Reece they did some digging around and then the same night, the scout called me and said that the owner of Port Vale was personally interested in getting him in, as they look at non-league clubs for young players and take in a good number of 17-18 year olds.
“Then about fifteen minutes later, the owner himself called me and invited us up there on the 29th December to a game which we went to, and there and then he offered Reece two years.”
