St Albans City have confirmed that, after several weeks of discussions, a deal has been agreed with Peterborough United for the transfer of Junior Morias which will go through on Sunday 1st January 2017.
Saints Manager Ian Allinson had the following to say:
“When we signed Junior back in July, I said that the club would do everything possible to help him get back into the football league, so I’m pleased we have delivered on our promise. Junior is a great lad and has worked extremely hard this season and I have no doubt he will be a huge success at Peterborough. I would like to ask all our supporters to give Junior a fantastic send off on Boxing Day and I would like to thank him for his efforts whilst wearing a Saints shirt“.
Junior had this message after signing for Peterborough United: “I would like to thank everyone at St Albans City Football Club for the fantastic support during my short time here. When I signed for the club in the summer, I made no secret of my desire to return to the football league as a professional footballer and I’m extremely grateful that St Albans City have helped make this happen. I will always be watching out for the results come 5pm and I really hope the club go on to achieve promotion this season. I have one game left at Clarence Park on Boxing Day and I will of course give it my all to make sure we secure the 3 points.”
Co-owner Lawrence Levy added: “First and foremost, I am absolutely delighted for Junior as he has worked extremely hard to achieve his target of returning to the football league. We have, of course, been a beneficiary of this hard work.
It is only right to also acknowledge the contribution our management team has made in his progression. Ian had a lot of faith in him and made no secret that, with his guidance, Junior had the attributes to move into the football league.
I would like to thank Peterborough United for the professional way this deal has been managed. It was a tough negotiation, but we had to ensure that all parties achieved what they wanted out of the arrangement.
I am very pleased that this club has given a talented player the platform to progress to the football league – I’m sure he will go on to have a fantastic career.”
