Paul Cox insists he doesn’t mind having to “beg, borrow and steal” in a bid to bolster the ranks at Kettering Town.

The Poppies’ revival since Cox took charge continued as two goals from Tre Mitford earned them a fine 2-0 success at Alfreton Town on Saturday.

The victory moved Kettering eight points clear of the relegation zone in the Vanarama National League North and extended their unbeaten run in the league to seven matches.

However, the threadbare nature of the Poppies squad was on show once again as Cox was only able to name three substitutes as Aaron O’Connor and Lindon Meikle both missed the game due to injuries.

Cox will have one more player available for the Boxing Day clash with high-flying Brackley Town at Latimer Park with Jay Williams, who has re-joined the club on loan from Northampton Town, having now completed his suspension.

The Poppies boss confirmed he held talks with the club’s hierarchy last week to see what could be done about boosting the numbers.
