Margate have confirmed the postponement of their home match with East Thurrock United this evening.
The Isthmian Premier Division sides were due to face each other in a meeting of two teams struggling to kickstart their season so far.
Margate have explained the decision to call the game off: “It is our duty of care to protect the players, staff and supporters of both teams, and after a short discussion this afternoon, both clubs agreed to postpone the game.
“We understand the disappointment this has caused so close to the enforced national lockdown and we were very much looking forward to the match.
“We appreciate news of a national lockdown and the subsequent postponement of football will have an impact upon people’s lives. From our first teams to our youth sides, a lot of hard work has been undertaken to ensure Hartsdown Park is a safe place to visit.”
