Vanarama National League North club Darlington have announced that they will face a Newcastle United Under-23s in a pre-season friendly.

The game, scheduled for Monday 17th July, will take place at the Northern Echo Arena with a 7pm kick off.

The young Magpies travelled to Darlington last July and inflicted a 5-1 defeat on Martin Gray’s side with goals coming from Haris Vuckic, Ivan Toney, Callum Roberts, Lubo Satka and Sean Longstaff.

The game is the latest to be added to Darlington’s busy pre-season schedule.

The Quakers will face away games at Ebac Northern League sides Shildon and Bishop Auckland either side of their date with the young Magpies.

And they round off their preparations for the new National League North season with an away double-header against National League clubs Gateshead and Guiseley.

The current pre-season fixture list in full is:

Shildon, Away on Saturday 8th July 2017: 3.00pm kick off

Darlington V Newcastle U23  on Monday 17th July: 7.00pm at the Darlington Northern Echo Arena

Bishop Auckland, Away on Friday, 21st July 2017: 7.00pm kick off

Gateshead Away on Wednesday, 26th July 2017:  7.30pm kick off

Guisley Away on Saturday, 29th July 2017: 3.00pm kick off

The Quakers finished last season in fifth place in the National League North, but were unable to take their place in the play-offs as their Blackwell Meadows home did not meet ground-grading standards.

The club will hope that their impressive pre-season campaign can give them the ideal preparations for a testing National League North campaign.
