Having lost their former Nottingham Forest and Hartlepool United forward Niall Rodney to a serious injury during last week`s Buildbase FA Trophy victory over Workington AFC, Evo-Stik Northern Premier League Division One West club Ramsbottom United have snapped up the much-travelled Richard Brodie as a replacement. The 31-year-old has moved back to play his football in his now-native north-west after a spell in the West Midlands with Evo-Stik Southern League Premier Division Central side Rushall Olympic.

He returned for a second spell with the Pics in October from NPL Premier Division outfit Warrington Town.

Brodie had a successful time at Dales Lane last season where he started to enjoy his football again and became an extremely popular figure both on and off-the-field.

He scored twice for Warrington but was sent-off for a second bookable offence against Marine AFC in September, having only come on as a late substitute.

He left the Wire looking for more regular football at Dales Lane, where he notched 16 goals last term.

After spells with local Northern League sides Whickham and Newcastle Benfield, Brodie enjoyed a prolific spell at York City and he was considered one of the finest prospects outside the Football League.

His displays eventually convinced Crawley Town to splash out £250,000 for his signature in 2010.

Since then he has been back at York as well as having spells with Gateshead, Southport, Aldershot Town, Stockport County, Boston United, Skelmersdale United and Solihull Moors.
