Paul Phillips has been named as Mossley’s new assistant manager.

Phillips recently left his role as Buxton manager, having led the Bucks to the Northern Premier League Premier Division play-offs last season.

The ex-Ashton United man joins up with manager Dave Wild at the Lilywhites. Wild said: “I’m really pleased to have Phillo on board. He’s someone I’ve got a really good relationship with in the game.

“He’s been supportive in the past and helped me get my managerial career off the ground. We’ve chatted over the last few days and met up this morning and thrashed a few things out.

“We’re ‘heart on our sleeve’ characters. We’ve got a similar mentality and we’ve both got people to prove wrong.

“He knows a lot of the lads already and those he doesn’t know are all really pleased with the appointment. It’s a big coup for the club and brings a fresh dynamic to the changing room.

“Fresh ideas and another voice are always good as a manager.”
