Goalkeeper Steven Drench is to retire from playing.

The former Morecambe and Guiseley stopper was with Farsley Celtic in the National League North last season, having joined Adam Lakeland’s side last August.

The 35-year-old, who also had recent spells at Bradford (Park Avenue) and Altrincham, said today as part of a post on Twitter:

“A thank you to football. Many years have passed since putting on my first pair of Umbro gloves and Hi-Tec boots as an U8 at Beechfield United, to playing my last game for Farsley Celtic in January, but the time has now come to call time on my playing career.”
