Record-breaking former Kettering Town goalkeeper Paul Bastock has returned to the club after 26 years to act as cover for Paul White during the Poppies’ promotion run-in.

‘Bazza’, 47, originally made his Poppies debut against Yeovil Town in 1990 under the management of Peter Morris, going onto make 38 appearances for the club before playing for Boston United, St Albans City, Dagenham & Redbrigge, Stamford, Dunstable, and in more recent times Corby Town and Wisbech Town. ‘The Cat’ overtook England legend Peter Shilton’s world-record goalkeeping appearance statistic this season, as he played his 1,250th game, for Wisbech at Thetford Town in the FA Vase.
