Luke Summerfield felt justice prevailed as he was able to maintain his ever-present record for Wrexham, report the Leader.

Summerfield has started every game since joining from Grimsby in the summer but the midfielder’s run in the side looked like coming to an end after he was sent off by referee Alan Dale following a foul on Jonah Aygunga in Saturday’s 3-0 defeat at Sutton United.

Manager Sam Ricketts appealed the red card after reviewing footage of the incident and it was overturned on Tuesday afternoon, meaning Summerfield avoided a three-game ban and started the goalless draw at Harrogate Town.

“We looked into it after the game, the gaffer spoke to me about it and we put the appeal in as a club on Monday,” said Summerfield, who was dismissed at the end of the first half at Gander Green Lane with Wrexham 2-0 down.

“We found out when we got to the hotel on Tuesday afternoon so it was a nice little bonus for me.”
