Eastleigh have announced that defender Réda Johnson’s contract with the club ‘has been terminated with immediate effect.’
The 31-year-old former Sheffield Wednesday and Coventry City man joined the Spitfires back in 2016, which many saw as a surprising drop down the leagues at the time.
The French-born ex-Benin international last played for Ben Strevens’ side on 21st December, in a 3-2 win at Bromley.
Johnson has been a prolific goalscorer for a defender during his career, but he has long since been hampered by injury frustration during his 11 years in English football. He played 35 games for Eastleigh as they reached the National League play-offs last season and has featured 12 times in 2019/20, scoring three.
