Matt Clements has softened the blow of the losses of Tom Meechan and Dylan Williams by putting together an exciting new three-pronged attacked for St Neots Town.

Former Newport County striker Meechan ended his second Saints spell last week by returning to parent club Hungerford Town, while Williams has been ruled out until the new year with ligament damage.

But manager Clements has moved to bring in Nabil Shariff from Alfreton Town and Lewis Irwin on loan from Northampton Town, who Clements feels will link up perfectly with Dion Sembie-Ferris as an attacking trio.

“Nabil’s one I tried to get earlier in the year,” said Clements. “He is great with his back to goal, which is the way we try to play, and he only needs one chance to score.

“Lewis is a powerful, hard-working six-footer who makes runs and chases the ball down. He’s good in the air and has good feet too. It’s a month to month thing, and we will see how it goes.”
