Former Nottingham Forest and Ilkeston FC player James Reid is the latest recruit to the Dominic Roma `revolution` at Gainsborough Trinity

Reid penned a deal earlier to sign for Trinity following his release from league rivals Nuneaton Town.

Reid, who has spent a large chunk of his playing career under the tutelage of Kevin Wilson – at Ilkeston prior to his move to Nuneaton last summer – is a talented individual who provides excellent delivery, both from wide positions and set pieces.

Formerly a wide midfielder, Reid has more recently been employed in a wing-back berth, providing a good balance to the side.

Comfortable in a number of positions though, Reid will be an invaluable member to Roma’s squad as the Trinity manager looks to run with a squad of eighteen or nineteen.

Nuneaton had wanted to keep hold of the influential player, but he was unable to commit to the full-time schedule Town were looking to adopt next season.

Roma had this to say about his latest recruit: “I have always been very impressed by James in games against us. He possesses good quality on the ball. The way he likes to get the ball down and play is a feature of Kevin Wilson sides and is something that I want us to be able to do. James is a good age and has good experience at this level and above, having also played for Telford. I am really excited to bring him to the club and look forward to working with him.”

Reid said on his move to Trinity: “I spoke to Dom and assistant-manager Martin Foster immediately after the season had finished.

“I have known him for a number of years now, from when we played against each other and they both spoke of their desire for me to play further forward; either centrally or on the left wing. I want to score a few more goals this year and create chances. That’s really what I am coming in to do, cause problems for the opposition and provide a few assists.

“I am looking forward to having a more settled season. I have a good relationship with Kevin Wilson, but I am at Gainsborough now and really can’t wait to get started. The season starts on 6th August and I can’t wait to get going!”
