Dover Athletic manager Andy Hessenthaler warned that his side will get “embarrassed” by Peterborough United in the FA Cup if they serve up a repeat of their performance against Maidenhead United.
The Whites travel to face free scoring Posh in the FA Cup second round on Sunday, with the League One side’s 40 goals in the league bettered by no team in the top four divisions.
Dover, 12th in the National League, knocked out another League One opponent in Southend United 1-0 in the previous round to set up the tie with Peterborough.
Dover have conceded eight goals in their past eight matches, four of those coming in the previous seven before Tuesday’s 4-3 defeat to Maidenhead.
“I think that’s the most disappointing performance this season [against Maidenhead], personally. We were on such a decent little run with five games unbeaten,” Hessenthaler said.
