Retford United have announced the appointment of Brian Entwistle and Darren Giovannetti as the new joint managers at the Toolstation NCEL Premier Division club.
A club statement said: “After an extremely competitive application process, club chairman Wayne Radford was impressed by Entwistle’s and Giovannetti’s approach to where the club is, and where they can take it.”
Both of the club’s new managers have come in from Evo-stik League Premier Division side Ashton United who narrowly missed out on promotion after defeat in the play-offs last season.
Entwistle, who comes in after overseeing his role as reserve team manager and first team coach at his previous club, has coaching experience at Leeds United and Stoke City, and, in his role at Ashton United, had a large track record of developing younger players from the reserve side through to making their first team debuts.
Retford-born Giovannetti, who was club scout and coach at Ashton, has lots of experience within the game having been a player and a coach for various clubs, and assisted also in giving the Robins coaching set up an extra pair of eyes and ears last season.
Alongside Giovannetti and Entwistle comes in experienced head coach Michael Bohan who holds a UEFA B license and has been head of academy football at Scunthorpe United as well as head coach at Boston United.
Finally, coming in on multiple roles as coach, head scout, and commercial manager is experienced marketing professional Matt Wilson. He currently works in sports and events marketing, has a keen interest in business and commercial development, and he will be looking to re-integrate the badgers within the local community.
He is also an FA Level 2 qualified coach and is looking to develop further as he assists Bohan at the club.
All playing staff from last season are being invited back to pre-season training and, once new management has received all details for these players, they will be informed of further details.
