Anthony Jeffrey says he left Dover Athletic in the summer because he “felt ready” to play in the Football League.
The 24-year-old has rejoined the Whites on a contract until the end of the season, and made his second debut off the bench in Saturday’s 2-0 defeat to Halifax Town.
The winger initially left on expiry of his contract after being offered a new deal at the end of last season.
Jeffrey said he had interest from clubs in League One and League Two during the summer, but a move failed to materialise, with clubs wanting him to go on trial.
“At the time, I was going to the Gold Cup with my national team so I had a lot of interest,” he said.
“I had a lot of discussions with league managers who said to me that when I got back they were ready to take me.”
